Happy New Years!

I didn't have time to whip up one just for myself, but Sahagian & Associates, Inc. had a pretty good year of it.
Have fun!
Drink a Toast to those of us who aren't lucky enough to be with you this New Years!
I'll see you in 2006!
Sincerely,
Greg Stewart

Holiday News - Phil & Valqueria's Engagement!

This holiday season has been one of the most pleasant in a great while.
There were no warm beaches of Rio or artifacts of Pompeii to keep me company.
Rather, the familiar surroundings of Chicago, IL.
My brother and Valqueria flew in for Christmas after a month long vacation that encompassed most of Brazil with a suprise.
There were more than sleighbells ringing this holiday season.
While in Brazil, my brother, Phil proposed to Valqueria.
They got engaged!
There will be wedding bells!
I'm VERY happy.
My brother brought us up to the 95th floor of the Hancock building to make the announcement! My parents made it there before me. I drove home and took the train into the city. I missed the champaigne toast and the presentation of the ring, but I got there in time for a drink before we had to leave. So, there's that, but it wasn't for me. That night was for my brother and my parents. I've considered Val my sis for 5 years, so uh... whateva and I was still one of the first to know!
They met on my birthday. Incidently, my birthday is also Valentine's Day in Brazil. Since then they've lived in 3 different countries and spoke 4 different languages together. They are very fortunate and modest about their brilliant work and travels.
Now I wasn't going to write this, but I feel compelled, because the longer I wait to say this the stronger the chances...
They've unknowledgably threatened to get married on the 12th too. There are 364 other days, and they should pick one. No date or location has been set for the affair, but if they choose the 12th...! Certainly, I see the selfishness of this, but is it too much to hope that once in a while that I see my family on this day? Should they get married June 12th, it will mean, I've concluded, that I will never see my brother on my birthday again. For no husband and wife celebrates their wedding anniversary with a brother. And that not only steals my thunder, but the wind from my sails. Its their wedding and they should do what they want, but its like getting married on Christmas or New Years for me. I'll be more than happy to hear their decision and hopefully this dark cloud will dissipate.

Lil John, Crunk & Synergy

Lil John has a unique knowledge of one of the strongest consumer groups today. His work in hip hop gives him notoriety, funds and a strong marketing edge in serving energy drinks to people who would otherwise get try Rockstar or Red Bull in the Hip Hop community. Across the nation kids are shoutin' "Yeyyyeah" for Lil John. People often try to emmulate famous people. At the clubs, people look to see what he and his crew were drinking. Realizing this two option stand: Invest one's interest in a product, or a paid endorsement of it... Lil John synergized CRUNK!

Synergy is defined as:
1. The interaction of two or more agents or forces so that their combined effect is greater than the sum of their individual effects.
2. Cooperative interaction among groups, especially among the acquired subsidiaries or merged parts of a corporation, that creates an enhanced combined effect.

In this effort, Lil John has picked a product that synergizes his popularity and creates a second source of revenue which furthers a subset of the hip hop genre which is also named Crunk.

This is not the first instance of a mix between music and food and beverages. Similiar moves by Ben & Jerry's prior to it's aquisition by Unilever by creating products like Phish Food, Cherry Garcia, Wavy Gravy, and the Dave Matthews One Sweet World ice creams. Jermaine Dupri, another hip hop tycoon, became the coowner of 3 Vodka. Of course, one should only need to point towards CEO Dame Dash and Diddy to see how music business tie-ins have succesfully navigated their way into our stores and homes.

The question becomes: Will Lil John rap about his product in commercial songs? How popular will product placement inbedded in the lyrics become? Tu Pac, Rakim and Ice Cube rapped about and for St Ides Malt Liquor. How will other rappers be compensated for mentioning favorite products on screen and stage?

Patriot Act Defeated!

There is hope for freedom in America yet!
The Patriot Act was blocked from renewal.
You may wonder why I would condemn an act that would allow secret police ability to rifle through your belongings and private personal records and play the role of censor, centaur, judge, warden and executioner.
Benjamin Franklin wrote "Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both."
The Patriot Act is a massive failure of our government, that our founding fathers would readily take opposition to.
The conservatives are like scared sheep who see nothing but shadows that mimic vultures and wolves. In such a thirst for control are they that would strangle and stifle the same throat and voice they breath and speak with. The stronger they grasp, the more individuals will slip through their fingers and rise against them.
This "Act" is illegal and violates the Bill of Rights in a number of different ways and due to its inability to allow for a system of checks and balances is contestable to constitution itself.
FREEDOM IS NOT COMPLIANCE!
